Audrey Jean McLaren was born in St. Thomas, Jamaica. She however, grew up in a small community called Duhaney Park, which is on the border of St. Andrew and St. Catherine. She is a graduate of Pembroke Hall Secondary (now High) School, Shortwood Teachers' College and the University of the West Indies where she completed a Master of Arts degree in Heritage Studies.
